How does a printed circuit board (PCB) work?

A printed circuit board (PCB) functions through the precise arrangement of conductive traces and components on an insulating backing material. The conductive traces, usually made of copper, transport electrical signals between the connected components, such as microprocessors, capacitors or resistors. These components ensure that the desired electronic functions are carried out.
